My name is Zachary Nichols and I am currently traveling the world indefinitely with my wonderful wife Keilyn. I was born in raised in Evanston Illinois, but have also lived in Wisconsin (both Milwaukee and Madison), Cody,Wyoming, and spent two summers working in Alabama, where my family is originally from. I have always had a passion for learning about history and different cultures, and for seeing new places and spending time in nature. Growing up with a Teacher as a Mother allowed me to go on lots of road trips growing up, which allowed me to experience many different parts of the US, and is a tradition I have continued both with my family and on my own. I avoid flying whenever possible! Aside from a few visits to Canada, my first time going abroad was in 2023 with Keilyn, who I had just began dating at the time. We spent an unforgettable two weeks in Norway, exploring the Arctic Circle, chasing the northern lights, and seeing some of the most stunning landscapes in the world. After this we each spent a month solo traveling. I went on a whirlwind tour of each country in the former Yugoslavia as well as Greece before meeting back up with Keilyn in Slovenia and visiting a few more countries together from there. During this time I developed a deep interest in Balkan history and culture and had longed to go back ever since. I spent the next three years reading books, researching more places to explore, and learning Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian. After three years of carefully saving money, in the winter of 2026 Keilyn and I quit our jobs, sublet our apartment, and decided to travel indefinitely starting in Central and Eastern Europe. This blog is dedicated to sharing our travels with you, and to highlighting places, stories, cultures, and histories that are lesser known. In the process, I will do my best to explain the how to and costs of international travel to show just how accessible it can be.
